About Mitchelstown Lely Center, Ireland
Lely first entered the Irish market over 10 years ago and have played a strong hand in automating farm processes. Lely Center Mitchelstown, one of the three Lely franchise Centers in Ireland, focused exclusively on its designated area, offering farm support advice, sales, maintenance and service to its dairy and beef farmers customers. The specialist teams of Lely Center Mitchelstown are trained in providing the unsurpassed levels of support that farmers expect.
Among the products which Lely Center Mitchelstown is offering to dairy and beef farmers are:
- Astronaut Automated Milking Systems
- Vector Automated Feeding Systems
- Juno Feed Pusher Robots
- Barn cleaning robots – Discovery Range
Lely milking robots can be installed to work in any farming system. The Lely Grazeway allows the Astronaut to function with grazing systems.
The Vector is an automated feeding system that selects feed, mixes it, and delivers it to the herd consistently.
The Lely Juno takes the time and labour out of pushing up feed. The Juno is an automated feed pusher that travels along the feed passage, quietly pushing in feed as it goes without interrupting any cows that are eating.
The Discovery can reach places where chain scrapers or manual scraping cannot. When replacing manual scraping, the Discovery massively reduces labour, and increases cow welfare by keeping their environment cleaner, leading to happier cows and farmers.
Lely Horizon is the newest farm management application, is a ‘decision-support platform, which analyses data, offers insights and gives proactive advice to make the farmer’s life easier, the herd healthier and the farm more profitable’, this is just one of the many new technologies in the Lely pipeline.
Working with Lely Center Mitchelstown will ensure that your farm is future-proofed through the use of cutting-edge technology, benefiting your herd – and your pocket.

The Irish Holstein Friesian Association,IHFA, is licenced by the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine to manage the Holstein Friesian herdbook and register members’ pedigree animals. There are in the order of 350,000 milk cows and followers registered with the Association, which represents 22% of the National herd.
The herdbook is governed by a Board of directors drawn from its regional structure of 15 areas with separate representation for the Irish Pure Friesian.
The association offers the members an expanded range of services to include registration, conformation scoring, genomics, recommended bull list for breed improvement, on line management tools, national accolades to recognise animal performance and breeder achievements, catalogues and sales.
The network of regional clubs for members is a valuable source for education and social capital.
The association maintains an open herdbook policy and offers non-members a route to pedigree where they can grade up their herd of Holstein Friesian to pedigree status following validation checks.
Promotion of the breed is a key function where the value and potential of the breed to earn additional income is a key consideration. The Association organizes open days, bull sales, shows and many varied events.
The Association also boasts a strong and vibrant youth organization, YMA, where likeminded youth can meet up and make new friends while at the same time learning stockmanship and management skills. They make friends for life and develop the skills so vital in succession, to take over the home herd or wherever their careers bring them.
