About the Virtual National Dairy Show 2021

The ongoing Covid pandemic has meant Ireland’s premier indoor agricultural event and meeting place for dairy farmers and dairy businesses is going virtual once again this year. We do so however, on the back of the success of last year’s virtual show, with huge optimism and enthusiasm. This year’s show will be held the evenings of the 20th and 21th of October and will include The National Dairy Innovation Awards.

The 2020 show was made possible thanks to our sponsors and exhibitors, who took the leap of faith with us and whose support was not lacking when we needed it most; and of course the support of the dairy farming community who logged on in their droves (1,600 unique log-ins with an estimated viewership of 2,500+) to view and interact with our agenda, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors. We have no doubt you will be there for us again this year as we look to make the 2021 show even bigger and better than last year.

A virtual show allows us the exciting opportunity to break from the limits of location and beam into dairy farmhouses and farm offices all over the country, meaning our sponsors and exhibitors can expect to see and interact with many new faces as well as the same familiar ones. Equally, a virtual show allows u to show you examples of farming innovation and best practice from around the world. Plus, We have worked extensively with our technology partner during the year to ensure that all attendees, no matter their age or background, will be able to easily log on and navigate the system we have created especially for the event and enjoy the extra dimension that the virtual world brings to the 2021 National Dairy Show.

Hopefully you can join us again this year to meet the same friends (virtually), make some new ones, do business, explore the companies you love, listen to keynote speakers, learn from our expert panels and distinguished guests, engage with the show director and committee, enjoy our demos and on site videos, debate our stock judging, have fun with some of the new ideas and surprises we have in store as well as much much more….

SHOW HISTORY

During the late 1970’s, the Cork Holstein Friesian Club visited a dairy show at Bingley Hall in Staffordshire, UK and wondered ‘Could we do a similar show in Ireland?’. Three committee members of this breeders club were asked to look into it. They were Bryan O’Connor, Bob Troy and John O’Sullivan. They concluded that the interest was there, that it would need to be held in October/November and a suitable indoors facility would need to be found. A new equestrian facility just built by the Duggan Family in Millstreet was deemed to be a suitable venue. The National Dairy Show was born.

The National Dairy Show has been at that site since its first ever show in 1982 and since then, it has grown to be the premier dairy show in Ireland. The trade stand element has increased over the years while promoting and supporting the Irish dairy industry has always been at the forefront. Due to Covid-19, the event goes online for 2020 where it continues its great tradition and expands its availability to everyone with an internet connection.
